Original title: European and American natural gas prices hit a new high, especially in Europe
European natural gas futures hit an all-time high on the 13th. Us natural gas futures rose 5.9% on the same day, reaching a new high in more than seven years.
The market is worried that if the northern hemisphere experiences a cold winter, it may face insufficient natural gas reserves, which will further push up the price of natural gas.
The US consumer news and business channel (CNBC) reported that Europe is the region with the most serious natural gas shortage, and its natural gas supply is currently at the lowest level in the same period of previous years.
John kildaff, a partner of American "reinvestment" capital management company, said that people began to use the word "crisis" when talking about the extent of natural gas shortage in Europe.
Kirdav said that Europe's natural gas reserves are 16% lower than the five-year average, and their natural gas reserves hit a record low in September.
The United States is also short of natural gas reserves. According to the data recently released by the US energy information administration, the US natural gas reserves are 7.6% lower than the five-year average.
CNBC reported that it will be clear in a few months whether the northern hemisphere has suffered a cold winter, which will be the "critical point" of natural gas supply. Some analysts predict that in extreme cases, the price of natural gas in the United States may double; The shortage of natural gas in Europe will be particularly serious.
Daniel YERGIN, vice chairman of the UK's Aisin Huamai company, said: "if it is a cold winter, natural gas (supply) will not only be tight, but very tight. At that time, it will either be a shortage of natural gas or will be reflected in the price."
Some analysts believe that the recently completed "beixi-2" natural gas pipeline jointly built by Russia and Germany is expected to ease the shortage of natural gas supply in Europe in the next two months.
The "beixi-2" natural gas pipeline from Russia to Germany via the Baltic Sea has a design annual gas transmission capacity of about 55 billion cubic meters, which can transport Russian natural gas to Germany and other European countries.
Gazprom (Gazprom) announced on the 10th that the construction of "beixi-2" natural gas pipeline was completed in the morning of the same day and is planned to be put into operation before the end of this year.
Gazprom's "beixi-2" joint stock company said that the "beixi-2" project will help meet the long-term demand for imported natural gas in the European energy market and ensure a reliable and safe energy supply at a reasonable price.
The United States has long opposed the "beixi-2" project. The Russian government said that the US obstruction was intended to occupy market share and tried to sell more US natural gas to Europe at a high price.
Germany's Federal Network Administration told Russian media on the 13th that the deadline for Germany's operation qualification certification of "beixi-2" natural gas pipeline is January 8 next year. (BU Xiaoming) (special feature of Xinhua News Agency)
